About Us
Ticket Tailor is committed to empowering a diverse range of event creators through simple and affordable ticketing. But that’s not all – we’re also on a mission to make sure that every single ticket sold has a positive impact on all stakeholders – our team, our planet and the communities we operate in. We call this "Growth on Purpose" and are proud to be a certified B Corp, officially putting business for good at the centre of everything we do.
Last year, over 10 million orders were placed through the Ticket Tailor platform, for all types of events from art installations to water parks. We have a world-class NPS score, and pride ourselves in building a simple platform built with a customer-first mindset.
We're a fully independent, profitable, and bootstrapped company meaning we don’t have to answer to anyone except ourselves and our customers, allowing us to scale the company sustainably and with soul.
We’re a hybrid team, working from our Hackney office twice a week.
About The Role
We are looking for a Tech Lead to bring quality, pragmatism, and empathy to guiding a product team focused on maintaining our ticketing platform and delivering powerful features to our users.
As a Tech lead your role is split between ensuring quality within your squad, hands-on development and planning, and managerial responsibilities of your two direct reports – helping them grow and succeed.
You’ll work closely with Product to understand and solve problems for our users. You’ll seek to deliver simple, secure solutions across all parts of our technology stack, considering the long-term architectural impact of your solutions. You’ll ensure the why of what we are building is important and shared with the squad. We’re committed to remaining a small team, focused on working in an impactful way – this means we’ve fully embraced the opportunities AI tools can bring to development and you’ll pay a key role in being open to the potential here and coaching your team.
We place a strong emphasis on ownership - we each own the tasks we deliver - from understanding the problem, to designing small blocks of long term value, to the quality of the solution delivered. We test all new features and deploy multiple times a day.
What you’ll be doing in the role
- Leading a product squad focused on maintaining and evolving our Ticketing Platform
- Working closely with Product to design solutions and ensure the squad is prioritising its work for maximum impact
- Championing quality across our platform
- Managing, developing and coaching a small team of direct reports
- Input into the wider technology decision-making process while sharing successes with the company
This role will suit you if…
- You favour pragmatic, user-centric solutions over perfection or best practise
- You strive for simplicity in your solutions and like to incrementally deliver small-pieces of long term value
- You work from first-principles and design-first over copy-and-paste programming
- You are excited to use AI tooling to enhance your productivity and quality
- You continually seek to maximise your impact in the work you deliver and how you manage your time
- You are passionate about improving the quality of your team at all stages of development
- You see value in many types of testing, and want to work with Trunk Based Development, continually releasing small pieces of long term value to the platform
- You value security, adopt a security mindset as you work, and ensure your squad follows secure practices
- You enjoy constantly learning and have a growth mindset
Our Stack:
🦿 PHP is our primary language, and we use Laminas and Mezzio frameworks

The Process:
- An initial discovery call to learn more about you (30 minutes)
- A remote video interview with Jamie, our Director of Tech, to discuss your technical background in more depth (60 Minutes)
- A take-home tech test (up to 3 hours)
- An on-site workshop consisting of a systems design exercise, chat with the product team and culture interview (usually around 2-3 hours)
